Is it healthy to nap after eating?

And for how long?

I think napping after eating is perfectly healthy under certain circumstances.

For example, if you didn’t get enough sleep the night before and you need to catch up, napping after a meal will give you some much needed rest. If this is the case, I think it’s fine to nap for as long as your body needs.

I don’t think it’s healthy if you wouldn’t have napped otherwise, but you ate so much that it put you into a food coma and made you go to sleep. This is okay during Thanksgiving or Christmas, but it’s not something you should do often.

I usually don’t eat a lot at lunch because it makes me sleepy in the afternoon. I find that when I eat a light, healthy lunch, I’m more alert and productive.

I prefer to eat my larger meals with the majority of my carbohydrate intake at dinner because it helps me sleep at night.

    1. Keeping lunch light is the main thing that helps me. I usually like to save my calories for a bigger meal at dinner. Right now, I’m doing a green protein smoothie with kale, bananas, and berries for lunch, which isn’t super low carb, but it really energizes me during the afternoon. Thanks for the comment!
